Newborn Photos

Sharing is caring!

It’s hard to believe our baby girl is almost 12 weeks old!  I figured it’s better late than never to share her newborn photos!

When should newborn photos be taken?

A beautiful little girl with a swaddle and bowI have always had our newborn photos taken within baby’s first week.  At this age babies are pretty sleepy and can be much easier to take photos of.

I will say I always feel a little tired at this session, because newborn life is quite exhausting, but I think this is the best time for some amazing baby photos.

This last time I hadn’t planned for our photo shoot at all.  That morning I literally found something in all of our closets that would work.  So, what I’m saying is keep it simple.  Don’t overthink it.A wife looking at her husband who is holding their baby girl

Here are some suggestions-

  • Light colors such as white, pink, blue
  • Minimal patterns, especially if multiple family members are in the pictures
  • Don’t worry about shoes… no one is going to see your feet in these!
  • For baby- I think the more neutral and simple the better.  Add character with the props… and baby is so cute you don’t need a bunch anyway because you want the focus to be on your sweet little one.

I know newborn photos can feel overwhelming.

You just  had a baby, money is probably tight because of preparing for baby and you are tired.  But, I have never regretted having them done.  I love looking back at all of our babies and I am so thankful for the pictures we have of them so new to this world!

I can hardly believe my last baby is growing so quickly.  My favorite parenting quote is,

“The days are long, but the years are short.”

There isn’t a truer statement in my opinion.

A baby girl in a basket with a white blanket and greenery in a floral swaddleI am tired these days, but it’s going by so quickly.  I’m soaking up as many sweet snuggles as I can and cherishing the bond I’m witnessing between my 3 kids.  They are falling in love with each other too, and that is a beautiful blessing to witness. Two brothers loving on their new baby sister

I love seeing these pictures of our family.

Together we are navigating new territory of life with 3 kids, in a new home.

In the midst of all of this change one thing is certain, there is a lot of love laughter.

My children are my greatest blessing and though I’m feeling exhausted and overwhelmed, one thing is certain… I love them with my whole heart and more than I ever knew was possible.
