This is a classic layered salad that has been in many families for years! You can prep it the day before. People young and old love this salad!
Place chopped lettuce in a 9x13 pan.
Chop all remaining vegetables and layer on top of lettuce in this order- celery, pepper, onion and peas.
Spread mayonnaise on top of vegetables and sprinkle with sugar. Add shredded cheese and top with crumbled bacon.
Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight. (If you don't have that much time 1-2 hours is sufficient)
