Using Cycle Syncing to Support Your Menstrual Cycle with Briana Villegas

Sharing is caring!

SHOW NOTES: Episode 23

Did you know that you can use cycle syncing to support your menstrual cycle?

Today, I am joined by Briana Villegas to talk all about your cycle. Briana is a cycle syncing coach and host of the Hormone Rants Podcast, who is on a mission to bring the conversation around periods out of the menstrual health niche into our daily lives. Briana helps her clients ditch the pressure to be the same every day and to give themselves permission to live cyclically in a society that wasn’t built for it.

On today’s episode, Briana shares her story of being diagnosed with Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), which is an adverse reaction to the normal fluctuations in hormones. We dive into the basics of what hormones are, how they show up and interact with other things in our body, and the natural shifts our bodies go through during a normal cycle.  Briana shares more about the four phases of the menstrual cycle which include the menstrual phase, ovulatory phase, follicular phase, and luteal phase. Briana and I talk about the emotional and experiential markers that can help pinpoint which phase you are in during your cycle, what is considered a normal cycle for a healthy person, and some things to look out for to indicate a cycle is not normal.

We chat about what Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is, how we need to care for our bodies in each phase of the menstrual cycle in order to set ourselves up for success, and how to integrate cycle syncing by going from just being aware of our symptoms to planning ahead before the symptoms happen.  Briana shares how someone can begin tracking their cycle, how our cycles are the first vital signal that something might be wrong with our bodies, and understanding that it is okay to move things around on your schedule so you can take better care of yourself during each phase of your cycle.  We also talk about how the biggest contributor to any disruption in our cycle is most often stress, things we can do to help our bodies manage some of that stress, and learning to recognize that your body will tell you what it needs through each phase.

Leaning into our bodies and becoming more intuitive and learning more about what we need is a beautiful place to come to because there’s freedom and peace in accepting who you are and how you feel.

This was such an empowering conversation with Brianna.  She is using her pain for purpose by bringing beauty to light and is truly loving her body well.
