Discover the Power of Intuitive Eating and Weight Neutrality with Elizabeth Harris

Sharing is caring!

SHOW NOTES: Episode 34

Are you ready to break free from diet culture and find true wellness through intuitive eating?

Today, I am joined by Elizabeth Harris, a dietitian and an intuitive eating counselor, to talk about hunger and fullness cues when it comes to intuitive eating. Elizabeth is the co-host of the podcast Wellness: Rebranded and is passionate about empowering women to opt out of diet culture and reimagine their relationships with food, movement, and their bodies. On today’s episode, we discuss how to care for your body without obsessing over the number on the scale, and inspire you to approach your body with kindness and grace.

On today’s episode, Elizabeth shares how she became a dietitian and an intuitive eating coach and how intuitive eating is a framework for people to heal their relationship with food in their bodies. We chat about tuning in and learning that your hunger and fullness cues are the foundations of intuitive eating, why someone shouldn’t begin with hunger and fullness cues when they are new to transitioning from the diet culture mentality to intuitive eating, and understanding that food is meant to bring us nourishment and is meant to be enjoyed. We talk about how healing our relationship with food is a continual process and there is not necessarily a destination or goal, how women’s bodies change after birth and to give yourself grace postpartum, and how diet culture has taught us that our bodies shouldn’t change.

As we break up with dieting, we’ll examine the impact of self-talk, cravings, and feelings of guilt on our mental and emotional wellbeing, while embracing the idea of weight neutrality.

Elizabeth shares how to approach intuitive eating if you want to lose weight, the importance of accepting our bodies exactly the way they are, and how our mindset is something we continually have to work on. We also talk about how someone can tune into their hunger and fullness cues, how intuitive eating is a personal journey and your journey might look different than someone else’s, and the importance of understanding the difference between fullness and satisfaction.

This conversation with Elizabeth was enlightening. I hope you leave this episode feeling empowered to approach your body with kindness and grace. Thank you for listening! I would love to connect with you on Instagram (@loveyourbodywell) and hear what you thought about today’s episode!
