SHOW NOTES: Episode 1
I think the only way to start this podcast off is by sharing my story with you all. I want you to see where I’m coming from and what has brought me to where I am today.
My wellness journey is complex and has been very complicated at times. I want you to know that I see you. I hear you. I am you.
My journey started in fourth grade. I joined Weight Watchers at an early age. I yo-yo dieted for years. Everything I did was focused on weight. I talked very poorly about myself for years and did not always treat my body kind. In 2008 that I actually had an eating disorder, Binge Eating Disorder. I share with you about my journey navigating my eating disorder and what led me to where I am today. I share my story of Hashimoto’s and how I walked away from Weight Watchers completely and worked towards healing myself from diet culture. My focus is now on healing, healthy habits, and joyful movement and taking care of myself in the best way I can.
At the end of the day, weight is just one small piece of the wellness wheel. There’s more to wellness than your weight.
The whole purpose of this podcast is that I want you to learn to love your body well. I think by hearing my journey, you will be encouraged to embrace your own. I believe in healing. We don’t have to stay in the past. We can thank ourselves and our journey for where it’s been and also look forward with hope. Together we are going to learn to love our bodies well.
